Most people want success and some spend the majority of their waking hours pursuing it.
There
are others who feel that attaining success in business is impossible and they conclude that it is just destined for a select few. The remaining people are content with what they have as they feel that destiny does not have success in store for them.
These assumptions are completely incorrect. If you want to achieve success in business, you will have to change your mindset and habits. You will never reach it with wrong assumptions. Not achieving success can be likened to traveling using a wrong road map. You may know where you want to end up, but it will either take a lot longer than you want or you end up landing somewhere else.
Success is a process. It is a journey and it must be attracted and not pursued. Success is not something that you find by chance or you can take it from someone else and make it yours. You have to work for success and the road is long and hard. Sometimes, you have to pay a high price for it. That is why success comes to those who are genuinely ready and willing to pay the price that it demands.
If success has evaded you so far, doesn’t it make sense that it’s time you started changing your assumptions and misconceptions. Here are three things I know to be true in order to be successful as a business owner or entrepreneur:
1. There are no short cuts to success. It is a process that follows a definite path that requires time and patience. You have to change your old habits, acquire new ones and make them inherent part of your life. You will have to learn and find out what works and what does not.
2. In order to attract success you will need to acquire new traits and skills. In other words, you need to have a clear objective in your mind and then figure out what skills and traits are required to attain that particular objective. A clear plan needs to be devised and if it means learning new traits and skills, you will have to do it.
Sometimes, you can learn new skills and traits by observing and being with people who are successful. You will have to do what they do and avoid what they avoid. This is known as mentoring. You learn from people who have arrived where you want to go.
Mentoring takes away the trial and error process and your mentor will keep you focused on the task ahead of you.
3. The road to success is at times lonely and you should be willing to traverse it. At some point in your quest for success, the pursuit becomes secondary and what you have become in the process ends up being more important.
The journey to success causes you learn habits and skills that make you successful and ultimately that is what is important and not the destination. You end up mastering skills and traits which in turn makes you successful.
The bottom line is that when you are ready for success with the appropriate skills, traits, mindset and habits, you attract it with little or no effort. And on the other hand, when you are not ready, it will repel you no matter how hard you chase it. This could be the reason why success eludes most people.
