Most of us at some stage of our lives have experienced unexpected setbacks. These setbacks, when experienced, can cause a lot of stress and practically halt the progress of our lives. We get consumed by the stress and all our attention is diverted to the core of the stress. We do not make an effort to find a solution. Instead we keep wondering why bad things happen only to us. However, by altering our beliefs and attitude, we can manage stress and any setbacks that come our way and actually become more resourceful as a result.
A similar stressful situation is handled differently by different people. An event which is a major stress to one person can lead to breakdown of another. With yet another, the event fuels creativity and new ideas. When we have problems, or what appear to be problems, our beliefs affect the way we handle stress and how much we can handle.
One suggested method of reducing stress is to visualize the problem and its solution. The next stage of visualization then involves being happy to have a solution and thereafter you have to take appropriate steps in your life so that the solution becomes a reality. It is a scientific fact that what we focus on grows.
Most of us are conditioned by our environment and surroundings. These play a big role in establishing our belief system. We then get entrenched in our beliefs and keep reinforcing them with our day-to-day experiences.
A simple example would be if business begins to drastically slow down. Many people are conditioned to believe that this means the start of the end of the business. This belief gets stronger as we watch the news, read the newspaper and listen to “water cooler” gossip. Rather than moving into the solution our constant focus on how bad things are amplifies the issue.
On the other hand there are people who reduce the amount of energy they feed into the situation by minimizing their time in front of the television, reading books that offer a solution rather than print media that fuels the fire and they talk with others who focus on how to create solutions they may not previously thought of.
The point here is that you can handle stress just through changing or altering your beliefs. You have to look for ways to become strong. You have to learn not to dwell on the negative aspects of your life. Instead, you should look for solutions and imagine how you would feel if the problem was solved. This will give you the impetus to take action so that the solution actually manifests into reality.

Thank you for your thoughts Theo. It's amazing how much fear can hold people back from achieving what they want. And yet, the way through fear it to realize it is often a figment of our imagination. Not always, but often.

Manage Stress Through Altering Beliefs is a highly informative blog post, thank you Dr. Capista!
The following quote is 100% dead on my friend, "...An event which is a major stress to one person can lead to breakdown of another. With yet another, the event fuels creativity and new ideas. When we have problems, or what appear to be problems, our beliefs affect the way we handle stress and how much we can handle..."
I am the type of person that uses my trials and tribulations as fuel for the fire! You see, I'm an ex-stutterer and public speaking was my biggest fear.
This year I used that fear as fuel to overcome my biggest hurdle to date and submitted a video to John Di Lemme's Next Speaker Millionaire Competition! If you'd like to check out the video simply click my name at the bottom of my comment.
Keep up the inspiring work my friend :)
